International Women’s Day, 8th March

During International Women’s Day week, we have been extremely lucky to have in a number of inspirational speakers, who have discussed their career pathways, shared the secrets of their success as well as how they have overcome barriers to become the successful and happy individuals that they are today.

These included on Tuesday, 6th March:

Michelle Gregson, Programme Manager, Learning & Participation, Royal Opera House

Wendy Daws MBE, Artist from Rochester, Awarded BME in the New year’s honours list for her voluntary service to visually impaired people in North Kent

Winni Jarvis, Full time firefighter with the London Fire Brigade and volunteer RNLI since 17 years’ old

On Thursday, Thursday: 8th March:

Kim White OBE, Kent Police – her OBE was awarded for for work with the gypsy Roma community in Kent.   Kim is retiring later this year and is currently in the process of writing her autobiography.  She brought in a memory board of special events and people that have played a significant part in her career/life.

Marie Colgan, JCP Schools Advisor, Department for Work & Pensions who works closely with schools in Kent and Medway, including Victory, to support students to make the right decisions with their next steps after leaving school.


Victory Academy students and staff were really inspired by the guest speakers and look forward to working with them all again in the future.
