On the 9th of November, Year 7 had an assembly commemorating and reflecting on the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1. We were very fortunate to be joined by a soldier, Staff Sergeant Dobbie, who had fought in many wars around the world. He told us what it was like to serve in the army and fight in war. Many questions were asked by myself and fellow Year 7 students and we learned a lot!
After our assembly, we headed over to the courtyard and were joined by students from our Sixth Form. We observed a two minutes silence so we could reflect on those who died in the war. Some students and teachers read a selection of short poetry; it was very peaceful and made me thinking about and respect those who fought for and protected our country.
Today, I was very proud to be a Victory Citizen.
