Well, an exhausting and challenging – but also rewarding and successful Adventurous Training weekend was undertaken by staff and cadets from TS Temeraire over the weekend of 26-28 April. Lots of tired cadets asleep in the minibus on Sunday afternoon, so mission accomplished! The weather could have been more pleasant – but it could also have been worse! As ever, I forget to take photos of some of the best bits, and I can not get around all the sessions as I am instructing / supervising, but there should be some of everyone. There were lots of positive experiences for all the cadets, with sightings of animals from Deer to Buzzards and from Squirrels to Herons, as well of many wild flowers and shrubs. There was also an element of “how the other half live” when walking through the gardens of some substantial country houses – complete with decoy herons, and duck houses! All cadets passed the course, and will now be able to apply for other adventurous training courses at the activity centre, including Archery, Rock Climbing, Mountain Biking, and bush-craft so long as they are more than 12.3 years old.
So, well done everyone. Hopefully the album will bring back some fond memories, and help Cadets explain to parents what was happening over the weekend.
Special BZ (that means “Well Done” ) to team Bravo for winning the overall competition, and to Cadet Andrea for getting the prize for best map reader.
Many thanks for PO Middleton and PO Luther from Sunbury-on-Thames Unit for going a long way out of their way to help us out over the weekend.
